My current research, based at the Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh is involved with studying the causes and persistence of sleeping sickness outbreaks in sub-Saharan Africa. Sleeping sickness is a tropical parasitic disease transmitted by tsetse flies (Glossina spp.). The work is funded by the British Medical Research Council and the Department for International Development, under the Animal Health Programme (AHP).
